This contribution received from Ian MacPherson (am correcting my list now)
May 85 Man Alive Dec 85 Aladdin May 86 Who Goes Bare? (Clair Hammond, well almost!) Dec 86 Sleeping Beauty (Oh Christ, men in tights) Jun 87 The Ghost Train (Anyone know a good Locksmith? And who the hell replaced the window glass with the unbreakable variety?) Jan 88 Ali Baba (Next time, let's build the set with large enough gaps to accommodate the leading man!) May 88 Old Time Music Hall (c'mon audience, help me out, I've forgotten the words!) Jan 89 Cinderella (Producer has paroxysms as half of cast/production team go skiing 1 week prior to show, meets them at airport to check for broken bones!) Aug 89 Off The Hook (Plagued with cast opt-out problems, show eventually went on in August and was a resounding success) Jan 90 Jack & the Beanstalk (This is the one where the scenes were built by the actors as they came on stage! That's one in the eye for the unions!) May 90 Old Time Music Hall (see above) Feb 91 Babes In The Wood (Memorable for the 10-segment revolving back-line scenery, also Producer change midway, and Paul Harvey's Demon 'dance'!) Jun 91 No Room For Love (Great fun, clever cutaway set by the superb Mr Best, even included a 'lift' in the corridor!) Jan 92 Wind In The Willows (An epic Steve Brookes production; does everyone remember the dress rehearsal night tantrum? Mind you, we deserved it!) Jun 92 Shock Tactics (The only shock was that we actually did this one! Actually it wasn't that bad!) Jan 93 Little Miss Muffett (First time for Revolving Stages, Roboscans and Debbie Mac, at 33, playing someone ermmm...about 16!) May 93 Not Now Darling (Steve Brookes, you slimy, oily b****r!) Sep 93 Not Now Darling (Civic Hall, Stratford) (We completely rebuilt the set for this in an abandoned part Of Stratford Hospital) Feb 94 Dick Whittington (Alternative Title: An American Witch in....er....Ullenhall, Chinese Rolls and magically appearing Sari's that didn't!)) May 94 Play On (The play within a play; included (this time deliberate....what d'ya mean, deliberate!) ham-acting of epic proportions from Mr Malcolm Steward. Feb 95 Little Red Riding Hood (It's a bit of a worry when the leading lady gets grounded on Technical rehearsal day!) Jun 95 Caught On The Hop (Mr. Eccleston's 1st production) Jan 96 Alice! (Mr. Eccleston's piece de resistance, writer & director thereof, a sparkling debut from Rachael Gill at 12 yrs of age) May 96 Uproar In The House (A brilliant show with a memorable Scottish accent from Tracey Harvey and many other excellent characterisations. Prosser, anyone?) Oct 96 A Murder Has Been Arranged (...but the producer survived the attempt! Unexpectedly (very) full houses every night, very atmospheric and enjoyable) Feb 97 Hickory Dickory Dock (If she's 14 you can call me Robert Eccleston! In fact she can call him anytime!) Jun 97 Run For Your Wife (Another beauty; the first of Robert's forays into that difficult central farce character) Feb 98 Robin Hood (Including deliberately designed 'moveable' (back-breaking) sets and an hilarious monks' dance led by Graham Robson) Jun 98 How The Other Half Loves (Superbly executed, a tangential change of direction and an ingenious set, given the space!) Jan 99 Aladdin (Almost certainly the best chorus we've ever had! And yes, we mean in relation to vocal talent!) Aug 99 No Sex Please We're British (Well, they were right, there was no sex! Cheated or what? Included the welcome return of Paul Harvey) Jan 00 Snow White (Ah yes, those 'Dwarves' and the Pregnant (no, really!) Fairy) Jun 00 Shut Your Eyes & Think Of England (Can't remember much about this, my eyes were shut!) Jul 00 Shut Your Eyes & Think Of England (Norbury Theatre, Droitwitch) May 01 It Runs In The Family (Rave reviews from Ed Doolan, Malcolm Boyden et al. 4 nights full house. Incredible show. Backstage debut of 'Dave the Door/Drainpipe') May 01 It Runs In The Family (Norbury Theatre, Droitwich) (Stop press: Wheelchair grows 4 inches wider (hmmm....sounds good!), as a result Pablo & Robert rebuild shattered door and shelving whilst acting with original lines. Absolutely brilliant!)
Aug 01 It Runs In The Family (Civic Hall, Stratford) Perfect production facilies; a superb couple of nights and a nice profit! Jan 02 Cinderella (Delayed from 2001, had to be the most stressful from a production point of view; I've been told understatement is my forte! As usual though, turned out an excellent production) Jul 02 Out Of Order (No, the title doesn't refer to the actors' lines! Another beauty in the time honoured Ray Cooney fashion) |
